NC Get Covered is still celebrating the fact that the Affordable Care Act remains intact after House Republicans decided to pull their proposal to replace the law, known as the American Health Care Act, on March 24 due to broad-based criticism and lack of support.
We are grateful that millions of people will be able to keep their health insurance, but we understand that attempts to weaken the ACA through regulatory or non-legislative changes will undoubtedly continue. We also acknowledge that further improvements can be made to the law to attract younger, healthier people to the Health Insurance Marketplace, lower insurance premiums, broaden provider networks, and more.
Please join us on Friday, April 21 from 10:00-11:30am for a discussion, led by Wake Forest University’s Director of Health Law and Policy Program Mark Hall, on how the ACA individual market in North Carolina has evolved over the past four years as well as factors that can improve Marketplace dynamics moving forward. Susan Nestor, Director of Health Insurance Smart NC, will share resources to help consumers better understand their rights related to health insurance.
The meeting will be held at Community Care of North Carolina, located at 2300 Rexwoods Drive, Ste. 100, Raleigh. For those of you who wish to participate by phone, a conference call number and webinar link will be provided early next week.
