The United States Senate unveiled their draft health care bill earlier today. Although we don’t yet know how much the bill would cost or how many people it would cover, we do know that it would create deep cuts to Medicaid, restrict immigrant access to affordable health care, and create other changes to our health care system that were included in the original House bill.
The Senate is expected to vote on their ACA replacement bill sometime next week. If a vote is taken, the bill would need to return to the House for approval before going to the President for signature. Until then, the Affordable Care Act remains the law of the land, and you should encourage consumers to continue paying their monthly premiums and enjoying their health insurance benefits for 2017.
If consumers have questions or concerns, please encourage them to schedule a free, in-person appointment with a local assister by dialing 1-855-733-3711.
Be well,
