More than 200 in-person assisters from across the state gathered in Greensboro on Tuesday, October 13 to network, learn, and get excited about Open Enrollment Three. The conference, sponsored by NC Get Covered and hosted by the NC Community Health Center Association and other ACA partners, included informative sessions like, “Helping Consumers Understand and Claim Exemptions”, “Working with the Faith Community”, “Tips and Tricks for the Application and Enrollment Appointment”, and “The How and Why of Consumer Story Collection”.
John Gilbert, National Managing Director for Enroll America, kicked off the event in a humorous, yet inspiring way. He praised NC assisters for their past enrollment efforts and encouraged them to stay focused in the months ahead, even lifting NC up as a model state for ACA outreach and enrollment activities. Gilbert’s talk set the stage for every session that followed.
During lunch, Jennifer Simmons, Navigator Project Director at Legal Aid of North Carolina, presented critical data gathered by PerryUndem on how to reach the remaining uninsured in our state and across the country. In-person assisters walked away with five key messages to share with consumers during Open Enrollment Three and a renewed commitment to their work.
This year’s conference for in-person assisters was a resounding success! NC Get Covered was proud to be a part of it and we are already looking forward to next year’s gathering. Stay tuned!
