Despite confusing messages regarding the Affordable Care Act and continued efforts to destabilize the Health Insurance Marketplace, the 2018 Open Enrollment Period will continue as planned, and eligible consumers in North Carolina will have options for health coverage that include both Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTCs) and Cost-sharing Reductions (CSRs).
Please share the following key messages with consumers, partner organizations, and other members of the community:
- Open Enrollment for 2018 Marketplace plans begins November 1 and lasts until December 15. The October 12th executive actions do not change anything about the upcoming Open Enrollment Period.
- Financial help with premiums and cost-sharing (help with out-of-pocket costs like co-pays and deductibles) are still available to consumers.
- All consumers, new and renewing, should return to the Health Insurance Marketplace during Open Enrollment to explore their options and enroll in health coverage. Plans and prices change every year, but it’s more important than ever to make sure the plan you had in 2017 is still right for 2018.
- Free, in-person assistance is available to help people understand their options and enroll in coverage. Please dial 1-855-733-3711 or visit www.getcoveredamerica.org/connector to schedule an appointment with a local assister.
