We at NC Get Covered hope you are remaining safe in the current environment and doing what you can to spread hope, love, and accurate information to others. Click here to read a message from our friends at the NC Community Health Center Association regarding COVID-19 coverage provided by North Carolina’s four Marketplace carriers – Ambetter, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC, Bright Health and Cigna.
I would also like to take a moment to update you on the status of NC Get Covered. We are still here! However, our focus has shifted a bit to Medicaid transformation. Over the past couple of months, we have been working on branding our new Medicaid work, known as the NC Collaborative on Medicaid Transformation, and meeting with key stakeholders. Through this effort, we hope to connect, educate and support diverse organizations interested in or affected by Medicaid transformation in North Carolina – particularly those who are working to elevate the consumer’s voice. We realize that Medicaid managed care is currently suspended in North Carolina, so we are using this time to lay the groundwork for this new initiative and build relationships.
Do not worry. As previously mentioned, the Affordable Care Act will remain an important part of our overall efforts. In fact, the ACA turns 10 years old on Monday, March 23, and we can’t help but reflect proudly on the extraordinary work we have accomplished together. A recent shift in priorities means we will no longer host monthly NC Get Covered meetings, but we will continue to support you in your efforts to enroll North Carolinians in Marketplace plans by:
- Coordinating Qualified Health Plans trainings for in-person assisters (in partnership with North Carolina’s Marketplace carriers) prior to open enrollment.
- Disseminating ACA-specific news and announcements via the NC Get Covered listserv.
- Participating in ACA meetings hosted by other organizations (as staff’s schedules allow) to stay abreast of what’s happening and of course connected to all of you.
- Highlighting ACA-related topics at future NC Collaborative on Medicaid Transformation meetings, particularly when the ACA open enrollment period rolls back around.
We invite you to become a part of the new Collaborative once it is officially launched and to learn more about how Medicaid transformation will impact your community. A link to sign up for the Collaborative’s listserv will be provided soon.
Thanks again for all you have done and continue to do to help North Carolinians get and stay covered!
Be well,
Willona
