COVID-19 & Health Insurance Coverage Meeting – Notes from April Meeting

~ Published on April 30, 2020 by Willona Stallings ~

Good afternoon! Thank you to everyone who participated in last Friday’s NC Get Covered (virtual) meeting on COVID-19 and Health Insurance Coverage. If you were unable to join us, you missed an informative session! You can view the meeting notes here.

A wealth of information and best practices were shared by assister groups from across the state, including steps everyone is taking to promote the ACA Special Enrollment Period for people who lost their employer-based coverage due to the pandemic. In the face of so much uncertainty and fear, it’s nice to have the support of well-trained assisters who are ready (and equipped) to help. THANK YOU!

In addition to the meeting notes, you may also find the information below useful.

  • E-commit cards in English and Spanish from Legal Aid of North Carolina – Consumers who are in need of health insurance coverage can complete one of these cards electronically to have an assister contact them and walk them through the application process. Other options include calling North Carolina’s toll-free hotline at 1-855-733-3711 or visiting NCNavigator.net to schedule a free appointment with a local assister.
  • Unbranded materials (FAQs and Flyer) from Ambetter regarding COBRA vs. Marketplace plans, and a video training on how to talk to consumers who are considering Marketplace coverage for the very first time.
  • A previously-recorded Beyond the Basics webinar on COVID-19 & coverage eligibility.
If you have any additional resources you’d like to share with coalition partners related to COVID-19 and Marketplace coverage, please send them our way!
Stay well,
NC Get Covered staff
